Job summary

LVI Associates, a leading employee-owned engineering consultancy in Washington, DC, is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to lead complex design and evaluation projects and mentor junior staff. You will engage clients and drive technical excellence from concept through construction.

The ideal candidate brings 8+ years of progressive structural experience, a PE license (SE preferred), and proficiency with RAM, RISA, ETABS, SAP2000, and Revit.

Qualifications

• MS in Structural Engineering.
• 8+ years of progressive structural engineering experience.
• PE license required; SE license preferred.
• Experience using RAM, RISA, ETABS, SAP2000, and Revit.
• Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural evaluations, investigations, analyses, and design of a wide range of building and infrastructure projects.
• Prepare and review structural calculations, reports, drawings, and technical specifications.
• Lead project tasks and support project delivery from concept through construction.
• Coordinate with architects, contractors, owners, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Provide construction-phase services, including submittal reviews, RFI responses, site observations, and field issue resolution.
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships through technical excellence and responsive service.
• Mentor junior engineers and support their professional development.
• Assist with project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and quality control efforts.
• Contribute to business growth initiatives and technical leadership within the office.

The Opportunity

LVI is working a leading AEC firm that are seeking a Senior Structural Engineer with 8+ years of experience who is passionate about solving complex engineering problems and delivering high-quality technical solutions. This individual will play a key role in project execution, client engagement, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to the continued growth of a nationally recognized structural engineering practice.

Key Responsibilities

Qualifications

• MS in Structural Engineering
• Minimum 8 years of progressive structural engineering experience.
• PE license required; SE license preferred.
• Strong knowledge of structural systems including steel, concrete, masonry, and timber.
• Working knowledge of IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI, TMS, NDS, and related codes and standards.
• Experience using structural analysis and design software such as RAM, RISA, ETABS, SAP2000, and Revit.
• Proven project management and client-facing experience.
• Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to travel to project sites as needed.

Compensation

$120,600 - $150,000 base salary

In addition to base salary, the compensation package may include overtime compensation, discretionary bonuses, retirement contributions, profit sharing, excellent healthcare coverage, generous PTO, and other employee benefits.
