Job summary

R2 Global in Greater Houston, TX is seeking a Senior Structural Project Engineer to lead the structural design of complex commercial and modular building projects from concept through production.

You will review drawings, develop calculations per codes, and mentor junior engineers while coordinating with PM, manufacturing, and field teams. This on-site role requires a PE or path to licensure, experience with steel structures, and proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and structural software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (Structural emphasis) or related discipline.
• PE license preferred, or realistic path to obtaining one.
• Direct experience with steel structures, modular buildings, industrial facilities, or fabricated systems.
• Solid grounding in IBC, ASCE 7, AISC Steel Manual, and AISI standards.
• Comfort performing calculations across gravity, wind, and seismic loading conditions.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit; working knowledge of STAAD.Pro, RISA-3D, RAM Structural System, or SAP2000.
• Strong communicator who leads technical conversations with customers, contractors, and internal teams.
• Mentoring or leading other engineers.

Responsibilities

Our client, a growing manufacturer of modular and integrated commercial building solutions, is looking for a Senior Structural Project Engineer to join their Engineering team. This is a hands‑on technical leadership role, you’ll be the structural authority on commercial, industrial, and modular building projects from initial concept all the way through production, working closely with Project Management, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain to make sure designs are safe, cost‑effective, and genuinely manufacturable.

What you’ll be doing:

• Leading the structural engineering and design of assigned projects from concept through completion
• Developing structural calculations and engineering analyses in line with applicable codes and customer specs
• Reviewing architectural, civil, mechanical, and electrical drawings for proper structural coordination
• Preparing, reviewing, and approving structural drawings, fabrication packages, and engineering documentation
• Running structural analysis on steel structures, modular buildings, equipment supports, and platforms
• Partnering with Manufacturing to optimize designs for fabrication efficiency and cost
• Supporting production with engineering input as design questions and field issues come up
• Leading customer meetings and design reviews as the structural engineering rep
