Job summary

EAPC Architects Engineers in Sioux Falls is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to lead design, detailing, and calculations for new and renovated buildings. You will coordinate structural systems with architecture, mechanical, and civil disciplines and guide CAD/Revit teams to deliver compliant drawings.

The role requires PE licensure, 8+ years of experience, and strong knowledge of codes and structural software. You'll mentor EITs and support project managers on budgets and proposals.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited B.S. in Civil Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Minimum 8 years of structural design experience.
• Knowledge of building codes for structural design.
• Proficient with RAM, RISA, Enercalc or similar software.
• Experience mentoring structural EITs.
• Ability to sign and stamp own work and review others.
• Valid driver's license; US work authorization.

Responsibilities

• Provide structural design, detailing, and calculations for all design phases.
• Coordinate with architectural, mechanical, civil disciplines.
• Edit and write structural specifications.
• Perform investigations and feasibility studies with cost estimates.
• Mentor EIT staff; direct CAD/Revit teams as needed.
• Perform construction administration and site visits.
• Assist PMs with budgets, schedules, and proposals.
• Lead proposals for external clients.

Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Structural Engineer who is eager to advance their career with an award-winning, full-service design and consulting firm!

At EAPC, our team of architects, engineers, interior designers, construction managers, and other professionals work together to create stunning structures and designs for optimum performance.

As a Senior Structural Engineer at EAPC, you will:

• Provide structural design, detailing, and calculations as required for all phases of the design of new buildings and structures as well as additions to and renovations of existing buildings and structures.
• Coordinate structural designs with other disciplines such as architectural, mechanical, civil, etc.
• Edit and write structural specifications.
• Perform structural investigations and/or feasibility studies including the writing of reports and providing cost estimates when required.
• Provide mentorship/training to EIT-level staff
• Provide direction to CAD/Revit specialists as required to complete structural drawings.
• Perform construction administration activities such as the review of material shop drawings, responding to contractor RFIs and construction questions, construction site visits, etc.
• Perform site visits as required to field verify existing conditions, dimensions, elevations, etc.
• Assist project managers in the development of internal design budgets and schedules as required.
• Assist the department manager in determining anticipated project scope, deliverables, fees, etc. as required to complete proposals to provide structural engineering services to external clients

Qualifications:

• Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited university
• Registration as a Professional Engineer
• Minimum 8 years of demonstrated experience in the design and detailing of buildings and structures utilizing steel, concrete, masonry, and wood
• Knowledge of relevant building codes related to the structural design of buildings and structures
• Proficient with structural design software such as RAM, RISA, Enercalc, or similar programs
• Experience mentoring/training structural EITs
• Demonstrated ability to sign and stamp individual work as well as review and stamp the work of other structural engineers or EITs
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills as well as interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
• Proficient with MS Office Suite
• Valid driver's license
• Able to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship

The position will report directly to the Structural Department Manager and will work as an integrated member of a multi-discipline, in-house team of engineers, architects, and drafting technicians.
