Qualifications

  • Requires California Structural Engineer license and California PE license.
  • Master of Science in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with structural emphasis.
  • 10+ years of structural engineering experience focused on vertical buildings.

Responsibilities

  • Lead structural analysis, design, evaluation, and rehabilitation of complex building projects.
  • Act as Engineer of Record for major building projects through planning, design, construction and delivery.
  • Prepare and review calculations, specifications, reports and construction documents.
  • Mentor engineers and designers while promoting technical excellence.
  • Collaborate with architects, owners and multidisciplinary teams.

We are seeking an accomplished California‑licensed Structural Engineer (SE) who is recognized for technical excellence in seismic engineering, advanced structural analysis, and facility resiliency in the vertical buildings market. This role offers the opportunity to lead complex structural projects, serve as Engineer of Record, mentor future leaders, and influence the continued growth of Jacobs’ structural practice throughout California and the Western United States.

Please note This is a hybrid position requiring regular attendance in a Jacobs office and travel throughout California for client meetings, pursuits, and project activities.

What You Will Do
  • Lead structural analysis, design, evaluation, and rehabilitation of complex building projects.
  • Act as Engineer of Record for major building projects through planning, design, construction, and project delivery.

Here's what you'll need
  • California Structural Engineer (SE) license.
  • California Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Master of Science in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with structural emphasis.
  • 10+ years of structural engineering experience focused on vertical building projects.
  • Experience serving as Engineer of Record and technical lead for complex projects.
  • Demonstrated expertise in CBC, IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI, and California seismic requirements.
  • Experience with performance‑based seismic design, advanced dynamic analysis, nonlinear analysis, ASCE 41 evaluations, seismic retrofit, and existing building assessments.
  • Proficiency with ETABS, SAP2000, PERFORM‑3D, RAM, SAFE, or similar platforms.
  • Strong leadership, client engagement, and communication skills.
Ideally, You’ll Also Have
  • Experience with healthcare, higher education, civic, essential facilities, mission‑critical, advanced technology, and adaptive reuse projects.
  • Leadership in SEAOC, EERI, NCSEA, ACI, ASCE SEI, or similar organizations.
  • Experience with peer‑reviewed performance‑based design projects.
  • Contributions to technical committees, publications, presentations, or code development.

The base salary range for this position is $132,900.00 to $207,650.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
