Job summary

Technip Energies in Houston, TX is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to lead the technical development of structural deliverables for steel structures and foundations across large process facilities. Position Summary

The Senior Structural Engineer is responsible for the technical development and execution of structural engineering deliverables for steel structures and foundation systems, from technical specifications and calculations through requisitioning and on-site delivery. The role supports the design of pipe racks, process structures, building structural framing, equipment support structures, modules, miscellaneous supports, and associated foundations while coordinating closely with multidisciplinary project teams, vendors, procurement, planning, and construction.

Key Responsibilities

Functional Responsibilities

• Develop and support structural engineering calculations, technical specifications, requisitions, calculation notes, stress reports, and other engineering deliverables for steel structures and foundations.
• Perform and coordinate design activities for pipe racks, process structures, structural framing for buildings, equipment support structures, modules, miscellaneous supports, and foundation systems.
• Ensure timely and quality preparation of engineering deliverables in coordination with other disciplines and project requirements.
• Ensure contractual technical specifications and project requirements are met by external parties, suppliers, and vendors.
• Maintain effective technical communication with vendors and provide follow-up on assigned orders and requisitions.
• Identify and propose technically sound alternatives that support cost, schedule, and energy-saving objectives while maintaining project requirements.
• Provide engineering support during construction and assist in resolving field-related structural and foundation issues.

Leadership / Management Responsibilities

• Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and specialist engineers.
• Supervise more junior specialist engineers when assigned and review work for technical accuracy and quality.
• Maintain autonomy and accountability for assigned structural engineering scope across one or several projects.
• Report engineering and requisitioning progress to the Lead Discipline Engineer.
• For small requisitions or standard equipment packages, coordinate technical, contractual, expediting, and inspection activities with support from project and procurement functions as needed.

Compliance / Operational Responsibilities

• Maintain overall responsibility for engineering, contractual, and quality-control surveillance for assigned steel and foundation works.
• Ensure assigned work supports project quality and HSE objectives.
• Adhere to project priorities for technical robustness, budget, and schedule.
• Coordinate structural design interfaces with other engineering disciplines, procurement, planning, and construction.
• Ensure engineering deliverables align with applicable project requirements and technical standards.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Engineering degree.
• Five (5) to twelve (12) years of experience in the design and execution of projects.
• Construction-site experience.
• Professional Engineering registration in Texas and/or Louisiana, or the ability to obtain applicable registration within four (4) months of hire, is highly preferred.
• Fluency in professional English.

Role Specific Knowledge & Skills

• Strong familiarity with structural engineering and experience across the technical aspects of the discipline.
• Experience with steel and foundation design for pipe racks, process structures, buildings, equipment support structures, modules, and miscellaneous supports.
• Proficiency in structural engineering software such as Foundation 3D, Mat3D, Shaft3D, DS Anchor, STAAD.Pro, Dyna6, IDEA StatiCa, and RAM Connections.
• Ability to prepare and review calculations, specifications, requisitions, stress reports, and engineering deliverables.
• Ability to coordinate effectively with vendors, suppliers, procurement, planning, construction, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
