Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering required.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of related structural engineering experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead mid-size projects, managing staff, budget, and schedule.
• Produce well-designed construction documents for structural systems.
• Review shop drawings to ensure design intent is met.
• Mentor less experienced engineers and coordinate with other disciplines.
• Keep current with latest codes and apply them to analyses.

Job Description:General Summary:The Senior Structural Engineer, with limited supervision from Manager of Structural Engineering, will provide the technical, organizational and communication skills to produce well-designed and coordinated construction documents for structural systems.Primary ResponsibilitiesReview and/or establish project scope, structural budget, and design approach with the Manager of Structural Engineering, Project Manager and/or clientPerform as a project lead engineer for mid-size projects, managing the production effort of staff assigned to project in terms of quality, budget, and scheduleKeep current with latest code publications and apply them in everyday analysis as applicableProduce innovative design solutions and give valuable engineering judgment to the teamFormulate, design, and/or conduct analysis of structural framing systems and perform necessary calculationsConduct field measuring and checking at construction site to verify existing conditionsPrepare construction documents e.g. drawings and specificationsCommunicate with other disciplines to produce well-coordinated construction documentsReview shop drawing submittals to assure design intent is metMaintain project files containing project calculations, correspondence, appropriate reference material, and other itemsCommunicate scope changes to the Manager of Structural Engineering and Project ManagerMentor less experienced engineersUse available structural computer programs to enhance productivity and verify results with manual checksPerforms related duties as assignedEmployment Qualifications:Education:Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering, or other related field required; Master’s degree preferredExperience:10 years of related experience in the structural engineering fieldSkills/Competencies:Analysis: RAM, ETABS, and SAP2000 preferredDrafting: AutoCAD and RevitHave an excellent work ethic and a desire to succeedAbout UsAt Ghafari Associates, we don’t just design buildings—we help shape the future of the industries we serve.
