Job summary

Ghafari Associates in Dearborn, MI is seeking a Structural Designer entry-level to intermediate with supervision to support structural framing design and analysis. You will help prepare construction documents, verify conditions on-site, and coordinate with engineering disciplines to ensure coherent deliverables.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Civil/Structural Engineering and 3+ years of related experience, with EIT preferred.

Qualifications

• EIT certification preferred or in process.
• 3+ years of related structural engineering experience.

Responsibilities

• Form design and/or analysis of structural framing systems with guidance.

• Coordinate with disciplines for clash detection and load determination.
• Review shop drawings to ensure design intent is met.

Job Description: General Summary: The Structural Designer, with supervision from the Manager of Structural Engineering and/or a project engineer, will provide the technical, organizational and communication skills for day-to-day support. He/she will be involved in the application of engineering fundamentals to design structural framing systems or components thereof at an entry-level basis.

Essential Job Functions

• With direction and assistance, formulate design and/or analysis of structural framing systems and perform necessary calculations
• Conduct field measuring and checking at construction site to verify existing conditions
• With direction and assistance, prepare construction documents and communicate with other disciplines to produce a well-coordinated set of construction documents
• With direction and assistance, coordinate with other disciplines for clash detection and load determination.
• With direction and assistance, review shop-drawing submittals to assure design intent is met
• Maintain project files containing project calculations, correspondence, appropriate reference material, and other items
• Perform related duties as assigned

Employment Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related field required
• E.I.T preferred

Experience

• 3+ years of related experience in the structural engineering field (Master's degree, research work and internships may count towards this experience)

Skills/Competencies

• Analysis: Risa, RAM, ETABS, and SAP2000 preferred
• Drafting: Bluebeam and Revit modeling preferred
