Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in Chicago is seeking an experienced CAD Manager to lead a team of designers in completing structural drawings on time and within budget. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in power generation and proficiency in CAD software.

Responsibilities include collaborating with engineers, ensuring quality and accuracy, and adapting to various technologies in renewable energy. A minimum of 10 years of experience and bilingual skills in Spanish and English are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years of experience required.
• Proficiency in at least one major CAD software is essential.
• Bilingual in Spanish and English is a must.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Supervise a team of designers to ensure structural drawings are completed on‑time and within budget, while maintaining quality, consistency, and accountability that meets or exceeds customer requirements.
• Collaborate with mechanical and electrical designers and engineers to resolve clashes within the 3D model, optimizing the overall design. Travel to client facilities may be necessary to verify on‑site physical design conditions.
• Adapt to a wide range of technologies in power generation, mining, oil & gas, and renewables. Lead the charge in carbon capture technologies, and also work in solar, wind, battery storage, hydrogen, and natural gas.

Education and Experience

• Associate Degree in Computer Aided Design Technology preferred
• CAD certificate required if non‑degreed
• Minimum of 10 years of experience required

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in at least one major CAD software (AutoCAD, MicroStation, Tekla, Revit, SmartPlant 3D)
• Knowledge of American Concrete Institute (ACI) for foundation design
• Knowledge of American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) manual for steel design

Compensation Range

$77,890 - $118,999
