Job summary

Severfield is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to deliver code-compliant, high-quality structural steelwork solutions that meet client requirements, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget. You will lead design tasks, liaise with clients and internal teams, assess temporary works, and support junior engineers to maintain buildability and safety across major construction sites.

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of structural steelwork design including complex solutions and temporary works.
• Experience in Design Management.
• Good understanding of buildability issues on major construction sites and in fabrication shop.

Responsibilities

• Have a sound understanding of engineering principles.
• Be able to work with external clients and internal stakeholders to produce practical design solutions.
• Carry out structural analysis and design to produce calculations for building regulations submission.
• Produce detailed design sketches to convey to draughtsperson with due regard to buildability and health & safety.
• Liaise with internal and external design teams to ensure that the design brief is clear, and a compliant design is produced.
• Assess, design and clearly define temporary works requirements.
• Ensure compliance with the company operating procedures, quality assurance, statutory safety legislation and our contractual responsibilities.
• Take responsibility for all technical aspects of a project and provide assistance to junior engineers.
