Job summary

Thornton Tomasetti is seeking a Senior Structural Associate to lead investigations of existing buildings and design remedial repairs. You will guide junior staff, coordinate with project managers, support marketing, and help develop client relationships.

The role requires a Civil/Structural/Architectural Engineering degree, a PE/SE license, and willingness to travel domestically and internationally. Proficiency in AutoCAD (Revit a plus) is expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering (Master’s/PhD preferred).
  • Professional Engineer and/or SE License required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with damage assessment and cause and origin investigations.
  • Prepare field notes, feasibility studies, cost analyses, and specifications.
  • Drive business development by leading proposals and expanding Thornton Tomasetti’s market influence.
  • Complete technical and investigative reports to support forensic findings and presentations.
  • Manage and mentor other design team members.
  • Perform peer reviews and condition assessments, including order of magnitude cost estimating.

We assist attorneys, property managers, building owners, contractors, manufacturers, and design professionals with a wide range of engineering and architectural issues.

We have an immediate opportunity for a Senior Structural Associate with interests in structural forensic investigation, litigation support, risk loss consulting, structural repair, and retrofit design. This individual will be expected to execute structural investigations of existing buildings and design remedial repairs for deficient conditions. The investigations include failure cause and origin analysis, life cycle cost and feasibility analyses, risk loss insurance, and claims response, and litigation support. The candidate will be required to provide direction to, and review the work product of, junior-level staff, coordinate with other project managers on interdisciplinary efforts, support marketing efforts, and develop and maintain client relationships.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering; Master’s or PhD preferred.
  • Professional Engineer and/or SE License required.
  • Ability and willingness to travel within the US and internationally
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, experience with Revit a plus.
