Job summary

Rocket Lab in Tucson, AZ seeks a Senior Structural Analyst I/II to support the Optical Systems division. You will perform structural analysis of spacecraft components, develop and validate models, and evaluate loads for safety and performance.

Collaboration with design engineers and participation in design reviews are essential for success. The role requires 5+ years (Senior I) or 8+ years (Senior II) of experience in mechanical structural analysis, plus proficiency with ANSIS/FEMAP/NASTRAN and

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or other technical discipline required.
5+ years in mechanical structural analysis for Senior I; 8+ years for Senior II.
Experience with FEA tools (ANSYS, Femap/NASTRAN) and strong documentation skills.
Ability to obtain and maintain U.S. Government security clearance.

Responsibilities

Perform structural analysis of spacecraft components using analytical methods and FEA tools.
Develop and validate models to predict structural behavior under integration, test, and launch conditions.
Evaluate loads to ensure design safety margins and compliance.
Collaborate with design engineers to optimize structures for weight and manufacturability.
Prepare reports and communicate results to stakeholders.
Support design reviews and lifecycle engineering activities.
Stay current with industry standards and improve analysis processes.
Assist in off-site travel and lab investigations as needed.
