Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an experienced structural analyst to support lunar transportation systems. You will perform concept-to-drawings analysis for fluid and pressurized lunar spacecraft components, develop FEM-based validation, and generate strength and verification reports in collaboration with NASA and partners.

The role requires a BS in engineering or physics and 10+ years of aerospace structural analysis experience, with hands-on use of ANSYS Workbench or NASTRAN.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of B.S. degree in mechanical, aerospace, civil engineering or physics.
  • 10+ years structural analysis experience in aerospace, energy or transportation.
  • Ability to solve a variety of static and dynamic structural problems using physics-based analytical methods, such as hand calcs, in-house tools, and commercial analytical tools.
  • Experience with FEM software (preference: ANSYS Workbench, NASTRAN).

This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s Blue Moon landers and related products. To further Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.

This individual will use their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to join our team and positively impact safe human spaceflight. Passion for our mission and vision is required. You will work directly with NASA and our National Team Partners as part of the Human Landing System (HLS) Sustaining Lunar Development (SLD) program. You will play a key role in developing the Lunar Transportation system that will return humans to the Moon and extend human presence permanently beyond the bounds of Earth.

  • Experience in structural analysis of pressurized systems such as piping, ducts, lines, valves, bellows, brackets, supports, etc.
  • Experience with cryogenic systems or with components under extreme temperatures and environments
  • Experience with bolted and welded joints
  • Experience with manufacturing methods, material selection, testing
  • Experience with any of the following piping analysis software (Autopipe, Ceasar, or CAEPIPE)
  • Experience with any of the following programing languages (VBA, Python)
  • Experience with CREO Parametric
  • Preferred industry experience: aerospace, liquid propulsion systems, oil & gas components, energy, transportation
  • Experience with industry codes or standards (AIAA, ASME, NASA)
Base Pay Range For

CO applicants is $133,500.00 - $186,898.95 WA applicants is $145,188.00 - $203,263.20
