Ebara Elliott Energy in the United States is seeking a senior structural analyst to lead and perform advanced FEA of turbomachinery components. You will develop analytical approaches, validate results, and provide sound recommendations to engineering stakeholders.
The role emphasizes developing analysis methodologies, supporting product development, and contributing to standards while mentoring junior engineers and advancing subject-matter expertise in structural mechanics and FEA.
Perform and lead structural and finite element analyses of turbomachinery components and systems. Develop appropriate analytical approaches, evaluate results against applicable design criteria, and provide technically sound recommendations to engineering and other stakeholders. Support complex design evaluations, product development, failure investigations, and corrective actions. Develop and improve analysis methodologies, procedures, documentation, and engineering standards to promote consistency and accuracy across the structural analysis function. Serve as a technical resource for less-experienced engineers and collaborate with senior structural specialists on advanced analysis methods. The position is expected to progressively develop greater technical independence and subject-matter expertise in structural mechanics and FEA.
BS in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, or related engineering discipline; advanced technical degree preferred. 10+ years of applicable engineering experience preferred, with significant experience in structural analysis or mechanical design. Strong knowledge of statics, mechanics of materials, stress analysis, and structural mechanics. Advanced experience with ANSYS Mechanical or comparable FEA software. Basic knowledge in the use of Computer Aided Design programs such as CREO. Experience performing linear and nonlinear structural analysis, including contact, bolt pretension, interference fits, large deformation, and material nonlinearities. Experience with transient & steady-state thermal coupled with static structural analysis, including temperature-dependent, and plastic material behavior. Experience with pre-stressed modal-to-static structural analysis and harmonic response is a plus. Ability to independently establish appropriate loads, boundary conditions, contacts, mesh strategies, and modeling assumptions. Experience evaluating yielding, fracture, fatigue, buckling, joint separation, and other structural failure modes. Demonstrated ability to validate analytical results using hand calculations, reaction-force/equilibrium checks, mesh convergence, and engineering judgement. Experience supporting failure investigations and root-cause analysis and developing corrective design recommendations. Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards, including ASME BPVC and API standards, preferred. Experience with turbomachinery, rotating equipment, pressure-containing components, or similar industrial equipment preferred. Strong technical communication skills with the ability to clearly document and present complex analytical results. Ability to work independently, provide technical guidance to other engineers, and contribute to the development of structural analysis standards, procedures, tools, and best practices. Demonstrated commitment to continued professional development and advancement toward subject-matter expertise in structural analysis. Experience understanding and evaluating residual stresses introduced by manufacturing methods, including machining, forging, and casting, and their influence on structural performance is a major plus.
