Job summary

HM Insurance Group in Pittsburgh seeks a Senior Strategy Analyst to lead strategic planning, analytics, and executive-ready recommendations. You will design models, conduct market research, and translate insights into go-to-market and operational strategies to drive growth and margin goals.

The role is hybrid in Pittsburgh, with 3 days onsite weekly (Tue, Wed, Thu) and collaboration with Strategy Consultants and leadership to guide major initiatives and digital enablement across HMIG.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Business, Economics, Engineering or Life Sciences or related field, or relevant experience and/or education as determined by the company in lieu of bachelor's degree.
  • 5-10 years of relevant, progressive experience in strategy / management consulting firms or internal strategy groups of healthcare and related companies.
  • Preferred Master’s degree in business, Economics, Engineering or Life Sciences or related field
  • Experience in Health Insurance operations and technology
  • Experience in operational improvement

Responsibilities

  • Identify key business issues with market owners, articulate problems and develop solutions with stakeholders.
  • Lead or participate in strategy projects with internal or external resources.
  • Serve as SME on membership, growth and operational strategy issues.
  • Provide guidance to team members and contribute to development plans.
  • Develop analytical frameworks and methodologies for complex strategy issues.
  • Execute other duties as assigned.

Support leadership of HM Insurance Group (HMIG) with a range of strategy activities essential to HMIG's growth and margin goals. The Senior Strategy Analyst leads strategic planning initiatives, designs and executes advanced business analytics, and translates insights into executive-ready content. Operating as a strategic partner, the analyst enables HMIG leadership to: 1) lead the annual and multi-year strategic planning development process; 2) design, build, and execute data analytics and financial models (including market research, scenario planning, forecasting, and profitability analysis) to evaluate critical business issues; 3) synthesize competitive intelligence and market dynamics into strategic opportunities; 4) author and deliver board and executive level presentations and formal recommendations; and 5) develop comprehensive go-to-market and operational strategy documents that inform critical strategic issues and decisions.

This is a hybrid based role in Pittsburgh - 3 days a week onsite - T, W, TH

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Work with business/ market owners to identify key business issues, articulate problem, apply right analytical framework, develop solution and recommendations, represent findings to stakeholders and own the outcome
  • Under the guidance of Strategy Consultants and Leadership, participate in / lead small to medium sized strategy projects/ work streams with the help of internal or external strategy consulting resources
  • Serve as subject matter expert (resource) to staff and stakeholders on membership, growth and operational strategy issues
  • Provide periodic informal work guidance/direction to other team members;
  • Provide performance input and recommendations to management for development/ training plans. May have supervisory responsibilities on a project basis
  • Apply a broad knowledge of concepts and principles to develop analytical frameworks, approach and methodology best practices to analyze complex strategy issues, often applying ingenuity and originality to develop unique solutions
  • Other duties as assigned or requested.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Business, Economics, Engineering or Life Sciences or related field, or relevant experience and/or education as determined by the company in lieu of bachelor's degree.
