Job summary

Barnstable's Department of Public Works- Administration and Engineering Division seeks a qualified Civil Engineer to supervise and manage stormwater and horizontal construction projects, develop budgets, and ensure compliance with state and federal stormwater regulations.

This role requires strong leadership and the ability to coordinate design, permitting, and construction activities across a municipal portfolio.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering is required.
• 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in stormwater programs and/or horizontal construction projects.
• FE exam certificate required; MAPE preferred.
• Class D driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Develops, budgets, plans, and manages projects within the DPW, including stormwater, water/sewer, roads, and recreational areas.
• Oversees the MS4 program, stormwater permitting, and illicit discharge compliance.
• Designs, develops, and stamps engineering drawings and specifications as required.
• Manages large construction budgets and prepares comprehensive reports and grants.
