In the role of Senior Stormwater Engineer, we'll count on you to:

  • Provide project and task management; collect, assimilate, and present data in reports, memos, and public forums; lead engineers charged with production of design calculations and technical reports; and prepare engineering plans and specifications for design of detention facilities, storm drains, flood control facilities and other hydraulic structures.
  • Work independently in addition to planning, organizing, and supervising the work of medium to large teams of professionals and technicians dependent on project/task.
  • Understand the principles, practices, and methods of public works design and construction of stormwater management systems.
  • Understand stormwater regulatory requirements and standards such as the Ecology Stormwater Management Manual and how to implement local design requirements.
  • Design green stormwater infrastructure and other stormwater best management practices.
  • Problem solve by identifying multiple solutions and work with a team to select preferred approaches.
  • Interpret and explain technical information to a variety of audiences in a technical or non-technical manner, as appropriate.
  • Support development of less experienced engineers to build stronger teams.
  • Serve as project manager on larger projects as needed.
  • Prepare proposals, scopes of work, and contract cost estimates.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MSCE
  • Stormwater industry certifications like APWA CSM, CESCL.
  • Knowledge and experience with Washington state stormwater codes, manuals, and programs.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent field.
  • A minimum of 10 years Water Resources experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Experience in water resources planning, hydrology/hydraulics and drainage/flood control design.
  • Familiarity with DOT drainage design criteria.
  • Experience in FEMA studies a plus.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a project team.
