Job summary

Honeycomb.io is seeking a Senior Storage Engineer to own the storage and query infrastructure that supports billions of events. You will design high‑quality, scalable solutions, lead end‑to‑end delivery, and collaborate with product management to align technical work with business needs.

You will mentor teammates, participate in on‑call rotations, and explore new technologies to keep Honeycomb’s platform fast and reliable at scale. This distributed‑first role offers equity and strong benefits.

Qualifications

• Proven experience designing patterns and guidelines for reliable storage and query systems.
• Strong Go programming skills and experience with high-throughput systems.
• Mentorship and code-review capabilities in a senior team environment.
• Experience with system design and ownership from concept to production.
• Comfort with on-call rotations and incident response.
• Ability to tie technical decisions to customer and business outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Build and deliver high-quality solutions for Honeycomb’s query and storage infrastructure.
• Break down complex storage and querying problems into actionable steps and own end-to-end delivery.
• Collaborate with Product Management and other teams to connect technical solutions to product needs.
• Participate in on-call rotations and define team KPIs and SLOs to improve reliability.
• Explore new technologies and optimization strategies to keep performance at scale.
• Mentor teammates, review code, and promote shared ownership of critical paths.
