Job summary

Chesapeake Regional Healthcare is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician II to join our hospital SPD team. Responsibilities include decontamination, preparation, and sterilization of instruments, with emphasis on infection control and documentation.

The role supports OR services and ensures compliance with QA standards. The ideal candidate will have CRCST certification (or complete within 2 years), a high school diploma, and preferred experience in sterile processing or operating rooms.

Qualifications

• CRCST certification required or must be certified within 2 years of start date.
• Be enrolled in a CRCST program or have completed CRCST.
• Prefer current sterile processing or operating room experience with infection control knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Decontamination: follow infection control guidelines, maintain clean work areas, apply medical asepsis.
• Preparation: inspect and assemble instruments, wrap/label trays, document missing items.
• Processing / Sterilization: operate autoclaves, document cycles, monitor sterilization parameters.
• Plan/Assign: perform duties as team lead when assigned, coordinate with SPD/OR, train staff as needed.
• Supply Area: manage patient care equipment, perform rounds, monitor inventory and expiration dates.
• Reporting: adhere to documentation standards, record sterilization records and QA data.

Education
