Job summary

Allegheny Health Network in Erie, PA is seeking a Senior Sterile Processing Technician to lead and mentor staff in decontamination, cleaning, sterilization and distribution of surgical instruments. You will ensure compliance with regulatory standards and quality control.

The role requires CRCST or CSPDT certification at hire and at least 2 years of sterile processing experience in a fast-paced hospital setting. This is an on-site position with daily teamwork and adherence to safety protocols.

Qualifications

• 2 years of experience with sterile processing.
• CRCST or CSPDT certification required at hire.
• High school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical resource and mentor for other sterile processing technicians.
• Assist with training of new employees.
• Disassemble instruments and clean with appropriate agents and equipment.
• Operate and maintain automated washing and decontamination equipment; troubleshoot as needed.
• Inspect cleaned instruments for cleanliness, function and damage.
• Receive and sort contaminated instruments from departments.
• Assemble complex instrument sets according to count sheets and tray lists.
• Wrap or package instruments for sterilization.
• Load and operate sterilization equipment; troubleshoot issues.
• Monitor sterilization cycles and interpret printouts for proper parameters.
• Document sterilization cycles and maintain records.
• Deliver sterile items to requesting departments promptly.
• Maintain a clean, organized work environment and follow PPE, safety and infection control policies.
• Assist in training new employees on procedures and equipment.
