Job summary

Indiana University Health is seeking a Surgical Technician for the Senate Street Surgery Center in Indiana, Pennsylvania. In this PRN position, the technician will be responsible for cleaning, wrapping, and sterilizing surgical instruments and supplies.

The ideal candidate must have a High School Diploma or GED and one national certification related to sterile processing. Additional skills in mentoring, computer proficiency, and knowledge of medical terminology are important. This role may also involve training colleagues as well as demonstrating expert knowledge in surgical instrumentation.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Requires one national certification related to sterile processing.
• 24 CE credits annually focusing on CS field.
• Must maintain a Certified Surgical Technologist certification if in a hybrid OR/SPD role.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy is required.

Responsibilities

• Cleans, wraps, sterilizes, and distributes medical equipment and supplies.
• Prepares for surgical cases using specialized knowledge in surgical instrumentation.
• Mentors and trains colleagues on various skills and tasks.
