The position emphasizes infection control, instrument quality, sterility maintenance, and aseptic technique, with responsibility for daily process monitoring and staff orientation. Leadership in absence of management is expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in sterile processing.
• Nationally certified through HSPA or CBSPD; CEU maintenance required.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with surgery staff to optimize sterile processing for trauma and tertiary procedures.
• Maintain infection control, instrument function, sterility, and aseptic technique.
• Serve as mentor for the sterile processing team and surgical clinical staff.
• Lead in the absence of the manager/coordinator.
• Support distribution of instrument trays per schedule, lists, and surgeon preferences.
• Maintain daily records and monitor chemical, mechanical, and biological processes.
• Orient new team members and advocate for patient safety in sterilization decisions.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies and contribute to quality improvement.
