Toshiba America Energy Systems Corporation (TAES) provides energy industry solutions – new equipment, retrofits, maintenance, outage planning and more – for current and future power generation needs in the Americas, including thermal, hydro and nuclear power plants.

Position Summary

The Field Engineer, Field Service II provides engineering and technical support and may perform as Site Shift Supervisor for labor at project sites. In addition, they may serve as overall project lead on smaller scope turn‑key projects. Activities may involve, but not be limited to support on steam turbines, generators, valves, and auxiliary systems.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical guidance and engineering expertise in support of project site work
  • Work may be for service, repair, installations, or fleet outages
  • Advise and support disassembly, repair, and assembly of power generation equipment and auxiliary systems
  • May support power generation equipment start‑up activities
  • Support troubleshooting activities
  • Coordinate with Toshiba design groups as directed by Project/Site Manager
  • Provide engineering information by answering questions and requests
May Assist Project as Site Shift Supervisor
  • Supervise site labor assigned to project activities
  • Manage shift activities
  • Approve labor timesheets
  • Submit shift work activity reports
  • Coordinate shift activities with Project/Site Manager
  • Notify Project/Site Manager of all issues that can/might impact project schedule or costs
  • Submit expense reports in a timely manner to allow Project/Site Manager to finalize project costs
Proposal/contract planning support
  • May assist Project/Site Manager in project development as assigned
  • Ensure technical requirements are met in the end product; address technical issues with sub-contractors and suppliers
Education and Required Experience
  • Bachelor's Level Degree Highly Preferred
  • Bachelor Degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Without Bachelor Degree, strong industry experience in power generation equipment installation, operations, field services or repair work
  • Above average verbal and written communications skills, including organization and direction of technical personnel, experience in procedure and process documentation and technical report writing
  • Familiarity with product and document management, including PDM systems is preferred
  • Experience in installation, repair, or refurbishment of power generation equipment
Required Certifications and Licenses
  • Certified Steam Turbine, Hydro or Nuclear technology training by Toshiba or equivalent company is preferred
  • OSHA 10 Construction and General Industry
  • OSHA 30
  • First Responder and CPR
Travel

Over 50%, or may be assigned to a long‑term project site. Must be able to travel 70% of the time and work significant overtime.

Physical Requirements

The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee frequently is required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell. The employee must be able to drive and work extended shifts. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is occasionally exposed to work in high, precarious places, and risk of shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme heat, extreme cold and wet, humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is frequently loud.
