Job summary

Berkshire Hathaway GUARD Insurance Companies is seeking a Senior Statutory Accountant to lead statutory financial reporting in line with NAIC and state requirements. You will work with cross‑functional teams, including Actuarial, to ensure accurate filings and enhance efficiency through process automation.

Responsibilities include preparing Schedule P, reconciliations, and developing allocations in financial systems.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance strongly preferred.
5+ years accounting experience in P&C Insurance with knowledge of coverages.
Advanced computer skills in MS Office Excel and accounting software.
Experience with process re-engineering and implementing new processes.
Ability to manipulate large amounts of data and manage projects independently.
Knowledge of accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations.

Responsibilities

Re-engineer statutory processes to streamline and improve flows.
Collaborate with Actuarial on quarterly loss development.
Prepare internal quarterly Schedule P and NAIC Schedule P and notes.
Prepare quarterly reconciliations and ensure data accuracy.
Develop allocation methodologies within financial systems to reduce manual work.
Assist with state/jurisdiction premium tax returns and assessments filings.
Attend to schedules for management/regulators/auditors and ad hoc projects.
