Job Title: Senior Statistical Specialist

Salary Range: $64,082 - $91,546.31

Department/Division: Materials Management & Distribution

Supervisor: Manager, Inventory Dynamics & Logistical Analytics

Location: 420 Lexington Avenue

Hours of Work: 8 hours/day

Summary

This position will assist the Manager, Inventory Dynamics & Logistical Analytics in designing, producing, and publishing reports to analyze and track inventory trends and performance, supporting Metro North's Material Management goals and initiatives. It involves oversight of material replenishment analysis, security of Procurement & Materials Management (P&MM) module, maintenance of the material catalog in PeopleSoft, and support for both P&MM and external customers.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and distribute statistical reports to analyze inventory replenishment and predict future demand trends.
  • Develop and prepare data for Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) reporting for Material Management.
  • Gather and disseminate data for internal forecasts and quarterly Board reports.
  • Manage analytical computation of transactional data to support Material Planning's forecast efforts, including query management in support of P&MM.
  • Manage 'Gatekeeper' efforts for PeopleSoft Procurement module security, ensuring data integrity and standardization of the Materials Catalog with over 41,000 SKUs.
  • Act as liaison supporting internal customers, BSC Management, and senior management to ensure efficient material support operations.
  • Manage requirements for Capital Programs related to Fleet asset rehabilitation.
  • Coordinate ordering efforts to align material flow with production plans, making adjustments as needed.
  • Provide ongoing catalog and statistical reporting support for Maintenance of Equipment and Maintenance of Way materials operations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, interpersonal, and administrative skills.
  • Ability to operate effectively under pressure, adaptable to change.
  • High level of independent judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Knowledge of procurement terms, conditions, and regulations, including government and public sector standards.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Knowledge of inventory, procurement principles, and systems, including Microsoft Office and statistical analysis techniques.
Requirements
Education and Experience
  • B.S./B.A. in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Management, Transportation, Public Administration, or related fields (or equivalent experience/credentials).
  • Minimum four years of experience in material management, planning, warehousing, operations, or purchasing.
Preferred
  • Master’s Degree in related fields.
  • Familiarity with Material Management and Railroad maintenance operations.
  • Knowledge of All-Agency Procurement Guidelines.
  • Valid Driver's License.
