Job summary

San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) seeks a journey‑level Stationary Engineer to operate, maintain, troubleshoot and repair complex building systems in a large district facility. The role emphasizes safety, compliance, and effective coordination with contractors and site staff.

Essential duties include managing boilers, HVAC, refrigeration and DDC controls, maintaining CMMS records, and contributing to emergency response readiness.

Qualifications

• Four (4) years of verified journey-level stationary engineer experience in maintenance, repair and operation of mechanical and electrical pumping, heating, HVAC, and related plant machinery.
• Possession of a valid California Driver’s License.
• Universal Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) certificate issued by the EPA.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair pumping, heating, ventilating, air conditioning, refrigeration, and related equipment.
• Troubleshoot boilers, HVAC chillers, refrigeration systems, and controls (DDC).
• Maintain plant records and CMMS reports.
• Interface with contractors and site administrators.
• Handle and store chemicals safely and respond to hazardous situations.
• Support emergency response and ensure safety compliance.
