Job summary

FINRA seeks an Associate Director, State Government Affairs to act as a liaison on state regulatory and legislative matters, monitor state initiatives, and deliver intelligence to senior leadership.

The role manages external lobbying consultants, coordinates with internal stakeholders, and represents FINRA at meetings and events with state officials. Hybrid work with travel requirement will apply.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of seven (7) years of experience in government relations, securities law and/or securities regulation field required; or an equivalent combination of education and directly related professional experience.
• Advanced degree preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of securities regulation.
• Strong working knowledge of state legislative and government processes is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Identify and monitor state legislation, regulations and issues that could impact FINRA programs and oversight of the securities industry and capital markets.
• Maintain coalition of partners and stakeholders.
• Monitor, analyze and track state initiatives that affect FINRA or regulated broker-dealers and capital markets and communicate key information to senior leadership across the organization.
• Serve as a point of contact for state regulators, legislative staff and associations to facilitate communication between FINRA and state officials and staff.
• Independently prepares comment letters and testimony on state legislative proposals.
• Oversee external state lobbying consultants.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders and advise FINRA Executives on enterprise-wide and program relationships with the states.
