Guidehouse seeks an Associate Director to lead and grow our State Energy practice in New York and the broader Northeast/Mid-Atlantic region. You will serve as a senior client advisor, shaping strategy, managing complex engagements, and developing high-performing teams.

The successful candidate will bring deep energy-sector experience, strong policy and regulatory knowledge, and a proven ability to partner with public-sector clients to advance grid modernization, clean energy, and decarbonization

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Minimum of 7+ years of professional experience in consulting, public-sector advisory, utility operations, regulatory affairs, program management, or energy-sector fields.
• Significant experience in the New York energy market.
• Knowledge of state energy policy, utility regulation, public-sector energy programs, and key market stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a trusted advisor to state energy agencies, public authorities, utilities, and other public-sector stakeholders.
• Lead complex engagements from planning through execution with high-quality delivery and stakeholder alignment.
• Define engagement objectives, governance structures, and delivery strategies.
• Translate policy and program goals into actionable scopes and operating models.
• Break down complex challenges into practical options and recommendations.
• Manage project and portfolio performance including budgets, staffing, schedules, and risks.
• Lead senior client discussions on scope, quality, schedule, staffing, and risk.
• Identify and mitigate delivery, contractual, financial, reputational, and client relationship risks.
• Ensure consistent quality and strategic alignment across project workstreams.
