Job summary

AARP is seeking an Associate State Director - Communications to shape and drive strategic communications across channels, aligning with the organization’s mission for people 50 and older. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience planning, executing, and evaluating strategic communications campaigns.
  • Ability to learn internal tools and synthesize complex topics into clear materials and scripts.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead design and execution of campaigns that increase brand awareness.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the development of communications strategies for target audiences across multi-channel platforms.
  • Develops message frameworks and tailors messaging for diverse audiences.
  • Produces communications products for internal and external audiences across channels.
  • Develops and executes integrated communications and marketing plans; supports program objectives.
  • Acts as day-to-day project manager for internal and external communications efforts.
  • Plans and implements special projects with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Coordinates internal/external events and engages volunteers in communications activities.
  • Develops relationships with key media outlets and serves as a media spokesperson as needed.
