Job summary

Kindred is seeking a highly experienced Senior Software Engineer to shape our consumer-facing apps across web (React/Next.js) and mobile (ReactNative). You will bridge web and mobile experiences and influence our technical roadmap with the co-founders and CTO.

You will architect, build, test, and scale features, develop reusable UI components, and help grow our engineering team while delivering a cohesive user journey.

The Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Software Engineer with deep expertise in building dynamic, consumer-facing applications using both React for web and ReactNative for mobile. As one of our early engineering hires, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping our product across platforms and have the chance to significantly influence our technical roadmap. You’ll be a key player bridging our web and mobile experiences, ensuring a cohesive and high-quality user journey. We’re looking for a thought partner motivated by the opportunity to build an iconic consumer product that will shape the future of travel.

You Will

• Serve as a technology leader, contributing to key decisions regarding tech stack and strategy across both web (Next.js) and mobile (ReactNative) development.
• Work directly with the co-founders, CTO, product designers, and fellow engineers to build and iterate on the Kindred platform.
• Architect, build, test, and scale features across our Next.js web application and ReactNative mobile app.
• Develop reusable UI components and contribute to our cross-platform design system thinking.
• Optimize applications for performance, scalability, and responsiveness on both web and mobile.
• Integrate with backend APIs, ensuring seamless data flow and user experience.
• Help establish and grow our engineering organization, including mentoring future engineers.
• Have access to our bench of world-class technical advisors and angels for mentorship and support as needed.

You may be a right fit for this role if you

• Have 5+ years of technical experience building consumer-facing applications, with significant expertise in both React (web) and ReactNative (mobile).
• Have experience building, testing, and scaling large-scale web and mobile applications.
• Are proficient in JavaScript, TypeScript, and modern frontend/mobile tooling (e.g., Webpack, Metro, TailwindCSS).
• Have experience architecting scalable frontend and mobile solutions. Experience with Next.js is a strong plus.
• Possess an understanding of native mobile app toolchains (iOS/Android) and their integration with ReactNative.
• Have experience building scalable and reusable UI components, ideally with experience contributing to or using design systems.
• Have a strong attention to detail in UI implementation and a deep understanding of consumer-facing UX principles across web and mobile.
• Are skilled in performance optimization techniques for both web and mobile.
• Have demonstrated success operating as a tech lead or senior individual contributor on critical projects in previous roles.
• Have prior experience at a high-growth stage company.
• Are an entrepreneur at heart who is excited about bringing new experiences to the world.
• Are motivated by consumer products and building platforms that become cornerstones of consumer behavior.
• Have the ability to exercise strong judgment and make difficult technical tradeoff decisions.

• Our opening spans more than one career level. The base salary offered depends on many factors, such as work experience, transferable skills, business needs and impact, and market demands.

Compensation Range: $170K – $220K
