Job summary

Langan seeks a Senior Staff Traffic Engineer in Florida to perform traffic and parking studies, transportation planning, event management studies, and roadway design. You will join a multidisciplinary team and work on projects across sectors including sports, healthcare, education, distribution, and commercial development.

The role requires a Civil Engineering degree, 3+ years of experience, EIT, and proficiency with HCS and SYNCHRO; AutoCAD and MicroStation are a plus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering is required.
  • 3+ years of experience in traffic/transportation engineering, traffic impact studies, parking studies, and related design work.
  • Current EIT licensure; P.E. is a plus.
  • Experience with HCS, SYNCHRO, and MUTCD is required; knowledge of AutoCAD and MicroStation is a plus.
  • Ability to coach and assist with the management of staff; manage multiple clients and projects; develop budgets.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and perform planning and permitting of traffic/transportation projects; land development and infrastructure
  • Conduct traffic analysis for traffic impact studies
  • Oversee field staff collecting traffic volume and regulatory data
  • Conduct preliminary traffic reviews to identify critical issues
  • Apply engineering knowledge and mathematics to studies and designs
  • Prepare or review draft reports including traffic impact and parking studies
  • Use SYNCHRO, HCS, and similar tools to prepare design documents
  • Prepare proposals and review invoices and project budgets with team
  • Lead preparation and modification of reports, plans, cost estimates, and designs
  • Supervise staff engineers and interns as needed
  • Coordinate field inspection services and site visits
  • Perform additional duties as requested

Job Summary

Langan is seeking a Senior Staff Traffic Engineer to join its collaborative team in Florida. This individual will serve a key function in performing traffic & parking studies, transportation planning studies, traffic event management studies, and traffic signal/roadway design projects. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work as part of a dynamic, multidisciplinary team of engineers, working on exciting and meaningful projects across many different market sectors. Our work includes projects in professional and collegiate sports, healthcare, higher education, distribution, K-12, commercial, office, retail, mixed‑use, and more.

Job Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and perform the planning and permitting of traffic/transportation engineering, land development, and infrastructure projects;
  • Conduct traffic analysis for traffic impact studies;
  • Oversee field staff collecting traffic volume, road, and regulatory data;
  • Conduct preliminary traffic reviews at the project concept stage to identify critical traffic-related issues;
  • Apply knowledge and techniques of engineering and advanced mathematics;
  • Write and/or review draft reports including traffic impact studies and parking studies;
  • Use engineering equipment and design software (SYNCHRO, HCS, etc.) to prepare engineering and design documents with proficiency;
  • Prepare draft proposals and review draft invoices and project budgets in collaboration with team members;
  • Lead tasks associated with the preparation and modification of various engineering documents including reports, specifications, plans, cost estimates, and designs for projects;
  • Supervise or coordinate the work of staff engineers, interns, and others who assist in specific assignments as needed;
  • Coordinate and perform field inspection services, as needed; and
  • Perform other duties as requested.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering;
  • 3+ years of experience in traffic/transportation engineering, traffic impact studies, traffic signal warrants, parking studies, driveway & roadway design, and traffic signal design;
  • Current EIT licensure; P.E. a plus;
  • Experience with HCS, SYNCHRO, and the MUTCD is required; Knowledge of AutoCAD and MicroStation are a plus;
  • Ability to coach and assist with the management of staff;
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple clients and projects and to develop and manage project budgets;
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and judgment capabilities;
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively individually and in a team environment;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; effective public speaking skills;
  • Reliable transportation to access job sites and a valid driver’s license in good standing;
  • Ability to occasionally travel and participate in field work; and
  • Ability to work overtime during evening and/or weekends, as needed by project schedule.
