Job summary

Harvey is seeking a Staff or Senior Staff Software Engineer to lead engineering projects across Product Engineering, partnering with AI, Legal, and GTM teams to build secure systems that deliver value. You’ll enable web, desktop, and embedded experiences (Word, Outlook, Slack) with a hybrid schedule in New York City or San Francisco.

You will mentor engineers, define technical bets, and ship AI-native capabilities—agent harnesses, tool-calling, memory, personalization—while ensuring robust APIs

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in a product-focused software engineering role at Staff level or above.
• Experience across full stack, backend, or AI/agents with ability to support multiple product lines.
• Proven track record shipping highly intuitive SaaS products with strong attention to detail.
• Experience with React, TypeScript, CSS (TailwindCSS), Python.
• Experience building and shipping agentic systems with tool use, memory, evals.

Responsibilities

• Build Harvey across web, desktop, mobile, and embedded surfaces (Word, Outlook, Slack, and API).
• Lead large, cross-team projects and define technical bets for the next quarters.
• Prioritize business-critical problems and make trade-off calls without slowing anyone down.
• Develop AI-platform capabilities—agent harnesses, workflows, tool calling, memory, and personalization.
• Ship systems for large-scale data retrieval, ingestion growth, and multi-jurisdiction security.
• Architect UX and robust APIs using React, TypeScript, Python, and Postgres.
• Mentor senior and staff engineers and raise the bar for the org.
