Senior Staff, Software Engineer - CoreOS

We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented senior staff engineer to join our FreeBSD operating systems team. In this position, you will play a key role in the overall success of our organization by innovating, planning, and implementing quality-driven software projects. You will be responsible for delivering engineering projects under strict quality guidelines and timelines.

Experience and Skills

• Develop, test, and debug kernel and system-level software with a focus on C programming.
• Proven ability to test/debug own and open-source code.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with a team of senior and junior engineers in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
• Experience with Real-Time/Embedded operating system software and kernel development.
• Knowledge of FreeBSD system-level programming and internals.
• FreeBSD committer experience is desirable.
• Strong understanding of layer 2/3/4 networking protocols and concepts.
• Experience with networking hardware, including NIC cards, I2C, PCI, and storage devices, as well as hardware bring-up and configuration.
• Experience in kernel driver development and validation.
• Ability to make design choices that optimize performance and scalability.
• Scripting skills in Bash, Perl, Python, and/or Java for test automation.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Software, or related field with 10 years of experience, or a Master's degree with 6 years of experience.
• 10 years of operating system software development experience.
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
• Excellent communication skills with colleagues and customers.

Salary Range: $194,400 - $279,450 per year. The actual salary may vary based on individual factors, market location, and experience. The total compensation includes benefits such as medical, 401(k), vacation, sick leave, and parental leave. Details will be provided upon offer.
