Job description

Overview

Join the Developer Productivity organization as a Senior Staff Software Engineer, owning the technical strategy and architecture behind Intuit's AI-powered developer platform, the GenAI CodeGen ecosystem (AI coding assistants, PR review agents, and agentic developer workflows). You will operate as the senior-most technical voice across CodeGen domain, setting architectural direction, driving org-wide adoption of AI tooling, and building the analytics/cost-governance backbone that proves ROI at enterprise scale. This is a hands-on technical leadership role — you'll code, architect, and mentor, while also shaping multi-quarter roadmaps and influencing decisions at the vendor and executive level.

Responsibilities
Technical Architecture & Execution
  • Architect and evolve the platform layer for AI developer tooling (coding assistants, PR review agents, agentic workflows), ensuring scalability, reliability, and security across a global engineering base.
  • Design and build the CodeAssist Admin Portal, cost-tracking/control systems, and analytics pipelines that measure adoption, effectiveness, and ROI of AI coding and PR-review tools.
  • Integrate agentic workflows into backend services — enabling capabilities like automated code analysis, code generation, Intuit-context-aware PR review, and autonomous task execution.
  • Drive prompt engineering, model integration, fine-tuning, and deployment best practices across multiple AI vendors (e.g., Claude, Cursor, CodeRabbit, Cursor BugBot).
  • Roughly 40–60% hands-on coding; remain the technical go-to for the hardest problems in the stack.
  • Own technical evaluation frameworks for new AI tools/vendors — POCs, benchmarking, cost-vs-outcome analysis — and translate findings into build/buy/adopt recommendations.
Leadership & Influence
  • Act as the senior technical subject-matter expert for CodeAssist, mentoring engineers and leading small teams through ambiguous, high-complexity design problems.
  • Lead functional requirement gathering, technical specification, and project/test planning for major platform initiatives.
  • Generate technical documentation, design docs, and executive-level presentations to communicate architecture and design tradeoffs to both engineering and business audiences (including leadership and vendor reviews).
  • Partner cross-functionally with Product, TPMs, QA/QE, and other engineering orgs to align roadmap and drive results.
  • Set and evangelize technical vision for the team; help attract, retain, and grow key technical talent.
  • Provide senior escalation support for critical production issues, driving root-cause resolution across AI-tooling incidents.
  • Champion Agile/Scrum practices and continuously raise the technical bar for the team.
Qualifications
Required
  • 10+ years of experience designing and developing web, software, or backend systems at enterprise scale.
  • Strong leadership experience: leading design discussions, presenting to leadership, acting as the cross-functional technical go-to person.
  • BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
  • Deep experience with AI/LLM frameworks, agentic workflows, and model integration (e.g., LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI, OpenAI/Anthropic APIs).
  • Strong programming fluency across Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, and at least one OOD language (Java, C#, Go).
  • Expertise across the full SDLC, including strong unit testing and TDD practices.
  • Proven experience with build systems and CI/CD (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or equivalent), version control, and code review workflows at scale.
  • Hands‑on experience with GitHub Enterprise Server and Artifactory (or equivalent artifact management platforms) — administration, scaling, and security hardening.
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes/ECS/EKS).
  • Strong Linux/Unix background with advanced scripting skills.
  • Strong understanding of security best practices in coding and operations, including vulnerability management.
  • Excellent communication skills — able to explain complex technical tradeoffs to both technical and non-technical/executive audiences.
  • Business acumen: strategic thinking, cost‑vs‑outcome framing, and the ability to build the case for AI tooling investment.
  • Experience working across geographically distributed engineering centers.
Preferred
  • Prior experience building or operating an internal AI/GenAI developer tooling platform (coding assistants, PR review agents, or similar).
  • Experience with data vector embeddings and RAG‑based systems.
  • Experience developing IDE extensions or integrations.
  • Prompt engineering expertise across multiple LLM providers.
  • Experience with metrics/monitoring/alerting tooling (Splunk, Prometheus, AppDynamics, PagerDuty).
  • Familiarity with package management (yum, rpm, apt) and Nexus/Artifactory internals.
  • Experience evaluating and negotiating with AI/dev-tooling vendors.
