Verkada is seeking a senior software engineer for the Developer AI team at our San Mateo HQ. You will architect AI infrastructure, scale asynchronous agent workflows, and build evaluation frameworks used across Verkada engineering.

This role directly impacts every engineer, aligning with security and product teams to deliver robust, scalable AI tooling. The position emphasizes in-office collaboration, cross-team work, and leadership in a fast-growing environment where developer productivity

About the Role

We are actively looking for a talented senior software engineer to join our growing Developer AI team, which builds the infrastructure, tools, and agentic workflows that Verkada engineers use every day. Example projects include running coding agents asynchronously at scale, building evaluation frameworks for agent quality, and connecting AI tooling into our monorepo and developer workflows. This role has cross-company impact: every engineer at Verkada will use what you build. We are committed to a thriving in-office culture. This role requires you to be onsite at our HQ in San Mateo, CA.

What You’ll Do

• Make every engineer at Verkada faster with AI! Build AI infrastructure that increases the productivity of all engineers at Verkada
• Design systems that run AI agents asynchronously, balancing security, cost, and usability
• Help define the Developer AI roadmap and lead planning
• Create evaluation frameworks to measure agent performance
• Partner closely with security, product teams, and other infrastructure teams to launch and support your services
• Document and teach AI best practices to engineers across the company
• Help with growing the team

What You Bring

• 5+ years of software engineering experience
• Proven experience shipping production systems, including agentic or automation-heavy workflows
• Strong hands‑on coding ability in Go and Python.
• Experience building systems that interact with APIs, tools, and external services (not just prompt‑based interfaces)
• Demonstrated ability to define metrics and evaluate system performance rigorously
• Experience writing clear technical design documents and driving alignment
• Nice to Have Familiarity with agent frameworks or orchestration systems
• Experience in monorepo environments
• Experience working on developer productivity tool Startup or early‑stage team experience

Annual Pay Range

At Verkada, we want to attract and retain the best employees, and compensate them in a way that appropriately and fairly values their individual contribution to the company. With that in mind, we carefully consider a number of factors to determine the appropriate starting pay for an employee, including their primary work location and an assessment of a candidate's skills and experience, as well as market demands and internal parity. A Verkada employee may be eligible for additional forms of compensation, depending on their role, including sales incentives, discretionary bonuses, and/or equity in the company in the form of restricted stock units (RSUs) Below is the annual on-target earnings (OTE) range for full-time employees for this position, comprised of base compensation and commissions (if applicable).
