Job summary

Google’s Cloud SDK team seeks a senior software engineer to shape the gcloud CLI and client libraries across 9 languages, serving as the front door to 150+ Google Cloud Platform APIs. You will drive architecture and SDK direction, partnering with many teams to scale APIs and ensure consistent DX.

The role emphasizes robust design, security, and reliability at scale, with opportunities to influence core SDK infrastructure and developer tooling.

Qualifications

8 years of experience programming in Java, Go, Python, Node.js, Rust, C++, C#, Ruby or PHP.
5 years of design and architecture experience; testing/launching software products.
5 years building Software Development Kits (SDKs).
5 years of experience with Cloud APIs.

Responsibilities

Provide overarching technical direction across Cloud SDK developer products and core architectural foundation for SDKs.
Collaborate with Cloud Leadership to align developer surfaces with next-gen GCP capabilities.
Coordinate with 150+ partner teams to integrate and scale API surfaces within gcloud CLI and libraries.
Enforce SDK/CLI design guidelines to ensure a unified developer experience.
Engage with Veneer client library teams to support complex domain-specific use cases.
