Clear Street Markets is building a modern, cloud-native brokerage platform in the United States. We seek a Senior/Staff Software Engineer to craft scalable order and execution management services in Rust and to drive low-latency, fault-tolerant solutions across asset classes.

You will help translate regulatory and market-structure requirements into robust platform capabilities, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ship reliable, audited software in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Expertise in event‑driven architectures and distributed systems (Kafka, Aeron, or similar).
• Expert at domain‑driven data modeling and design.
• Experience with production Rust is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Build and scale mission-critical order and execution management infrastructure in Rust.
• Design systems balancing low-latency, fault tolerance, and correctness across distributed trading workflows.
• Shape the architecture and engineering direction of a rapidly evolving trading platform in a fast-moving, iterative environment.
• Develop audit-ready risk controls and venue-specific trading abstractions with focus on correctness and performance.

The Role: • Build and scale mission-critical order and execution management infrastructure in Rust, including order workflows, execution logic, and distributed trading services. • Design systems that balance low-latency execution, fault tolerance, and strict correctness guarantees across distributed trading workflows • Shape the architecture and engineering direction of a rapidly evolving trading platform in a fast-moving, iterative environment. • Develop efficient, audit-ready risk controls and venue-specific trading abstractions with a focus on correctness and performance. • Translate evolving regulatory and market structure requirements (CAT, Reg NMS, MiFID) into reliable, testable platform capabilities. The Base Salary Range for this role is $170,000 - $240,000. This range is representative of the starting base salaries for this role at Clear Street. Where a candidate falls in this range will be based on job related factors such as relevant experience, skills, and location. This range represents Base Salary only, which is just one element of Clear Street's total compensation. The range stated does not include other factors of total compensation such as bonuses or equity.
