Job summary

Shield AI is seeking a highly experienced Electrical Engineer to lead the RF team on next-generation autonomous aircraft. You will drive RF design, test, and performance optimization across complex platforms.

The role demands mentoring, cross-functional collaboration with EE, ME, and SW teams, and a strong focus on regulatory-compliant engineering processes. This is a senior full-time position based in the United States.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 15+ years of industry experience in RF systems.
• Demonstrated mentoring and guidance of engineers.
• Led design work at unit and system levels with RF emphasis.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership to the RF team for the next-gen aircraft.
• Quantify and optimize RF link performance; resolve desense/interference issues.
• Define system-level and unit-level design requirements for RF systems.
• Improve design, test, and compliance processes related to RF engineering.
• Define test procedures, and train operators/technicians to execute them.
• Grow the team; provide hiring input and mentorship.
• Establish and enforce team processes for design, test, review, and regulatory compliance.
• Communicate RF status and needs to cross-functional teams.
• Provide technical design input/reviews to your team and other engineering groups.

We are seeking a highly motivated engineer to support the design, development, integration, and fielding of a next-generation autonomous aircraft system. This position requires a balance of technical rigor, rapid decision-making, and hands‑on engineering to efficiently transition concepts into operational capability. The ideal candidate is comfortable solving complex problems, taking ownership, working within an accelerated aircraft development environment, and is motivated by getting meaningful capability into the hands of operators quickly.

• Provide technical leadership to the RF team for the next gen aircraft
• Quantify and optimize RF link performance, resolve desense/interference problems.
• Define system level and unit level design requirements and features for all RF systems.
• Improve design, test, and compliance processes for the engineering org. as it related to RF.
• Define test procedures, requirements, and train operators/technicians to execute accordingly.
• Help grow the team, provide hiring input, and mentor teammates.
• Establish and enforce team processes around design, test, review, cross-functional support, and regulatory compliance.
• Regularly communicate with the cross-functional team regarding RF status, risks, needs, plans, etc.
• Provide technical design input/review to your team and other engineering teams.
• You have a B.S. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
• You have 15+ years of industry experience as an Electrical Engineer in RF systems
• Have strong technical fundamentals
• Have worked on cross-functional teams involving EE, ME, SW, manufacturing, production, etc.
• You have technically mentored/guided other engineers
• You have led design work on the unit level and system level
• Experienced with quantifying and improve RF sensitivity performance.
