This is a high-impact opportunity to join a well-funded organization at an exciting stage of growth. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams including Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software, Clinical, Manufacturing, and Quality to bring cutting-edge robotic technologies from concept through commercialization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and development of complex mechanical and electromechanical subsystems for a robotic surgical platform.
  • Own hardware development activities throughout the product lifecycle, including concept generation, prototyping, testing, design verification, and design transfer.
  • Develop mechanisms involving precision motion, actuation, transmission systems, structural components, and robotic assemblies.
  • Create detailed 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, tolerance analyses, and design documentation.
  • Collaborate closely with software, controls, and electrical engineering teams to ensure seamless system integration.
  • Perform engineering analysis including FEA, tolerance stack-ups, reliability assessments, and risk evaluations.
  • Support system-level architecture decisions and trade-off analyses.
  • Develop and execute verification and validation testing strategies.
  • Partner with manufacturing teams and external suppliers to support prototype builds, design for manufacturability (DFM), and production scale-up activities.
  • Participate in root cause investigations, design improvements, and corrective actions.
  • Contribute to product risk management activities in accordance with medical device regulations and standards.
  • Support regulatory submissions, design reviews, and commercialization initiatives.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years (Senior), 8+ years (Staff), or 12+ years (Principal) of mechanical engineering experience in medical devices, robotics, aerospace, or other highly regulated industries.
  • Proven experience designing complex electromechanical systems and precision mechanical assemblies.
  • Strong proficiency with 3D CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Creo, NX, or equivalent.
  • Experience taking products from concept through verification and manufacturing transfer.
  • Knowledge of design controls and product development processes in regulated environments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Hands-on prototyping and hardware troubleshooting experience.
Preferred
  • Experience developing surgical robotics, robotic-assisted systems, or advanced medical equipment.
  • Experience designing mechanisms involving motors, actuators, drives, sensors, bearings, and precision motion systems.
  • Familiarity with FDA design controls, ISO 13485, IEC 60601, and applicable medical device regulations.
  • Background supporting startup or high-growth technology organizations.
  • Experience working with contract manufacturers and global suppliers.
  • Understanding of human factors engineering and surgeon/user workflow considerations.
  • Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, or a related discipline.
Why Consider This Opportunity?
