Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Staff Platform Engineer based in the United States.Take a leading role in building and scaling the cloud infrastructure that powers enterprise-grade data platforms and real-time AI applications. As a Senior Staff Platform Engineer, you will own the foundational systems that enable engineering teams to deliver reliable, high-performance products for Fortune 500 customers. You will work across cloud infrastructure, distributed data pipelines, compute orchestration, CI/CD automation, and observability. Your expertise will help maintain production-grade reliability, protect data integrity, and accelerate software delivery as the platform grows. Working within a small, experienced engineering team, you will have significant influence over architecture, technical strategy, and operational best practices. This is an opportunity to solve complex challenges at the intersection of AI, enterprise data, and scalable infrastructure while shaping the future of a growing technology platform.

Accountabilities
  • Cloud infrastructure ownership: Design, build, and operate scalable cloud environments, primarily using Microsoft Azure, ensuring reliability, security, performance, and cost efficiency.
  • Infrastructure as code: Develop and maintain reusable infrastructure automation using Terraform and other appropriate tools to standardize provisioning and configuration management.
  • Containerization and orchestration: Manage containerized workloads using Docker, Kubernetes, and modern deployment patterns to support scalable and resilient applications.
  • Data pipeline orchestration: Build and operate reliable data infrastructure, including pipeline orchestration, change data capture (CDC), distributed compute, and messaging systems such as Ray and Azure Service Bus.
  • CI/CD and deployment automation: Design and improve continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines, release automation, and developer tooling to streamline software delivery.
  • Observability and monitoring: Implement and maintain monitoring, logging, tracing, alerting, and diagnostic systems to improve visibility into platform health and application performance.
  • Site reliability engineering: Establish and improve service-level objectives (SLOs), capacity planning practices, incident response procedures, and reliability standards across the platform.
  • Incident management: Lead investigations into production incidents, coordinate resolution efforts, identify root causes, and implement preventive measures to reduce recurring failures.
  • Operational efficiency: Identify repetitive operational tasks and eliminate unnecessary manual work through scripting, automation, and improved engineering workflows.
  • Platform architecture and technical leadership: Influence architectural decisions, establish infrastructure standards, and guide technical direction as the platform evolves.
  • Developer enablement: Build reliable, self-service infrastructure and deployment capabilities that allow product engineering teams to deliver features quickly without compromising production stability.
  • Continuous improvement: Evaluate emerging technologies and infrastructure practices to improve scalability, data integrity, security, and operational performance.
Requirements
  • Professional experience: At least five years of experience building and operating production cloud infrastructure at scale, with a strong track record of delivering reliable systems.
  • Cloud platform expertise: Hands-on experience managing cloud infrastructure, with proficiency in infrastructure as code, particularly Terraform. Microsoft Azure experience is an advantage.
  • Container technologies: Solid understanding of Docker, Kubernetes, container orchestration, and modern application deployment strategies.
  • CI/CD expertise: Demonstrated experience building and maintaining deployment pipelines, release automation, and developer productivity tools.
  • Observability skills: Practical experience with monitoring, alerting, centralized logging, distributed tracing, and production troubleshooting.
  • Site reliability engineering: Strong understanding of SLOs, incident management, capacity planning, reliability engineering, and automation-driven reduction of operational toil.
  • Distributed systems knowledge: Ability to design, operate, and troubleshoot scalable infrastructure and distributed production workloads.
  • Data infrastructure experience: Familiarity with data pipelines, streaming systems, change data capture, and distributed compute frameworks. Experience with Ray, Kafka, or Azure Service Bus is particularly valuable.
  • Enterprise platform experience: Background in B2B SaaS, enterprise data platforms, or other environments where uptime, data integrity, and operational reliability are critical customer commitments.
  • Startup experience: Experience establishing infrastructure foundations in a high-growth environment, preferably with responsibility for designing systems from the ground up.
  • Technical judgment: Ability to make sound architectural decisions, balance short‑term delivery with long‑term maintainability, and proactively address infrastructure risks.
  • Collaboration and ownership: Strong communication skills, a proactive mindset, and the ability to work independently while partnering effectively with engineering teams.
  • Continuous learning: Interest in improving platform architecture, exploring emerging technologies, mentoring colleagues, and contributing to a culture of engineering excellence.
Benefits
  • Competitive compensation: Salary package designed to reflect experience, technical expertise, and responsibilities.
  • Annual performance bonus: Additional earning potential based on performance.
  • Equity participation: Employee stock option plan, offering an opportunity to share in the company's growth.
  • Comprehensive healthcare: 100% employer-paid medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Retirement savings: 401(k) plan with an employer contribution.
  • Paid time off: Generous vacation and sick leave to support work‑life balance.
  • Flexible work arrangements: Remote work within the United States, with flexibility in how work is organized.
  • Equipment support: High-quality equipment for home and office use.
  • Technical autonomy: Significant influence over infrastructure architecture, engineering standards, and technical direction.
  • Professional growth: Opportunities to expand technical expertise and develop leadership capabilities as the platform scales.
  • Collaborative environment: Work alongside a small, experienced engineering team that values ownership, mentorship, and continuous improvement.
  • High-impact projects: Solve challenging problems involving AI, distributed systems, enterprise data, and production reliability.
