Job summary

Boston Dynamics is seeking an NPI Sourcing Specialist in Waltham, MA to bridge R&D and mass production by managing sourcing for complex electronics, semiconductors, and mechanical assemblies. You will partner with Engineering for supplier identification, negotiate should-cost targets, and ensure material availability for new product introductions.

The role emphasizes strategic sourcing, data-driven decision making, and cross-functional collaboration in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain or related field.
• 5+ years of procurement/supply chain experience; R&D environment preferred.
• Strong organizational and communication skills with attention to detail.
• Proficiency in ERP or procurement systems; dashboard/data visualization is a plus.
• Experience in consumer electronics, semiconductors, or automotive (with autonomous driving) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Strategic supplier identification and vetting with Engineering for advanced semiconductor, sensor, and PCBA components.
• Cost management and should-cost modeling; analyze silicon wafers, packaging, and labor for TCO.
• Monitor R&D material availability in collaboration with Operations Program Manager to align with production needs.
• Place and track purchase requisitions and POs; follow up on open orders to ensure timely deliveries.
• Maintain procurement metrics, update systems, and communicate delivery timelines.
• Analyze procurement/inventory metrics and prepare daily reports to inform strategies.

Job description

Role Overview

As an NPI Sourcing Specialist, you are the bridge between R&D and the mass production supply chain. You will play a critical role in bringing next-generation Humanoid robot to life by managing the sourcing lifecycle for complex Electronics, semiconductor components and mechanical assemblies.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Supplier Identification: Partner with Engineering during the early phase in the development to identify and vet suppliers capable of meeting cutting-edge technical requirements for semiconductors (ICs, SoCs), sensors, and PCBA components.
• Cost Management (Should-Cost Modeling): Drive early stage cost-out initiatives. You won’t just look at a quote; you’ll analyze silicon wafers, packaging costs, and assembly labor to negotiate the best Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
• NPI Material Availability – In collaboration with OPM (Operations Program Manager) Monitor and manage R&D daily material inventory levels to ensure stock availability aligns with production and demand needs.
• Purchase Requisitions – Place and track purchase requisitions/and POs once issued, based on NPI phase build planning, program schedules, and inventory requirements. Proactively follow up with suppliers on open orders, past due items to ensure timely deliveries.
• Material Fulfilment Metrics – Maintain visibility and report out relevant metrics into open purchase orders, update internal systems, and ensure accurate delivery timelines are communicated.
• Data Analysis & Reporting – Analyze procurement and inventory metrics (turnover, accuracy, supplier performance) and prepare daily reports to inform procurement strategies and improve supply chain efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Sourcing, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 5+ years of procurement, supply chain, or supplier management experience (R&D environment preferred)
• Strong organizational and communication skills with a detail-oriented mindset
• Proficiency in ERP or procurement systems and Microsoft/Google Suite tools, Dashboard and data visualization development is a plus
• Relevant industrial experience is preferred, Consumer Electronics, semiconductor, or Automotive industry (with Autonomous driving system)
• PMP or other project management certification is a plus
• APICS, ISM certifications will be weighted favorably
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

Compensation

The base pay range for this position is between $116,479.18 to 145,598.98 USD annually. Base pay will depend on multiple individualized factors including, but not limited to internal equity, job related knowledge, skills and experience. This range represents a good faith estimate of compensation at the time of posting.
