Job summary

Waymo in Mountain View, CA, seeks a senior ML/CV leader to own model updates and deployment within a data-driven pipeline for a multi-billion parameter system powering the Waymo Driver.

You will join a hybrid role reporting to a Sr Staff Technical Lead Manager, build and lead high-performing teams, define roadmaps and OKRs, and guide staffing and technical decisions to deliver autonomous driving models at scale.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent deep learning experience.
• 5+ years of experience in Machine Learning and/or Computer Vision.
• 2+ years managing ML engineering or research teams.
• Experience with Python.
• Experience with ML frameworks like PyTorch or JAX.

Responsibilities

• Own model updates and model deployment in an automated data selection/model update pipeline for an ML system serving millions of rides.
• Lead the design and implementation of data selection and incremental model updates for a multi-billion parameter model.
• Develop and deploy methods for in-field monitoring of deployed ML models and detect improvements or regressions after a model update.
• Build resilient and high performing teams through people development and hiring,
• Contribute to the development of technical roadmaps, defining team OKRs and driving roadmap execution.
• Make project staffing and technical decisions and drive escalations; deliver projects.
