Gotion Inc. invites a Staff Mechanical Engineer – EV to lead HV battery pack mechanical design and release for our next‑gen EV programs. Based in Fremont, CA, you will coordinate with CAD designers and suppliers, define DFMEA, and partner with systems and test teams to validate designs.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering required.
• Minimum 5 years of lithium-ion battery design experience.
• Design release experience in the automotive industry.
• Experience with supply chain and quality engineering for supplier selection.
• Proven hands-on mechanical analysis experience.
• Experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment with suppliers and manufacturing teams.

Responsibilities

• Define technical and regulatory requirements of HV battery packs.
• Lead mechanical component design and review of HV battery packs (module design, component selection).

Position Summary

The Staff Mechanical Engineer – EV is responsible for the mechanical design and technical release of High Voltage (HV) battery packs for Gotion's electric vehicle programs. This role owns component design and selection, coordinates with CAD designers and external suppliers to release drawings and models, and partners with systems and test/validation teams to define and validate mechanical DFMEA and DVP&R. The role is based in Fremont, California and requires hands-on mechanical analysis experience combined with high-volume automotive manufacturing know-how.

• Define technical and regulatory requirements of High Voltage (HV) battery packs.
• Lead mechanical component design and review of HV battery packs (module design, component selection).
• Manage release of mechanical design — work with CAD designers for the release of CAD models and drawings.
• Work with external suppliers to ensure components meet all requirements.
• Coordinate and lead weekly teleconferences with suppliers and internal teams.
• Work with systems engineers to define mechanical system DFMEA.
• Review DVP&R and work with the test and validation team to validate the mechanical design of the pack.
• Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not have direct reports but may provide technical mentorship to junior mechanical engineers and CAD designers on design release work.

Required Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of lithium-ion battery design experience.
• Design release experience in the automotive industry.
• Experience working with supply chain and quality engineering for supplier selection.
• Proven hands-on experience in mechanical analysis.
• Experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment, working with suppliers and manufacturing teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• MS in Mechanical Engineering.
• 8+ years of experience in mechanical engineering.
• Excellent understanding of DFMEA.
• Proficiency in CATIA V6.
• Over 5 years of design release experience in mechanical engineering.
