Job summary

Lunar Outpost is seeking a Senior Staff Mechanical Analysis Engineer to lead the mechanical analysis team in a fast-paced startup environment. You will develop analytical models for spaceflight vehicles and oversee delivery of high-quality analysis in support of project milestones.

The role requires extensive experience in spaceflight mechanical analysis, FE modeling, and leadership, with on-site work four days a week and potential remote work one day per week.

Qualifications

• Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 10+ years of spaceflight mechanical analysis experience.
• Experience leading analysis teams.
• Expertise in Finite Element Modeling software.
• Proficiency interpreting loading profiles and test data.
• Familiarity with NASA/government specs and standards.
• Strong communication and time-management skills.
• U.S. Person.

Responsibilities

• Develop high-quality analytical models of vehicles/mobility platforms.
• Perform mechanical analysis (loads, stress, fatigue/fracture, dynamics, vibration).
• Lead and oversee the mechanical analysis team.
• Prepare technical reports detailing processes, results, and recommendations.
• Coordinate with design, PM, and leadership to meet deadlines.
• Ensure analyses comply with Lunar Outpost and NASA standards.
• Present materials for reviews (TRR, PDR, FRB, CDR).
• Oversee multiple projects and allocate resources.

Working Conditions / Schedule: This position is required to be onsite Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Where applicable, employees may work remotely on Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Additional hours may be required based on business needs.

KeyResponsibilities:

• Develop high-quality analytical modelsof vehicles/mobility platforms
• Perform mechanical analysis (Loads, Stress, Fatigue/Fracture, Dynamics,Vibration,etc.)in quick-turn, rapid development environment
• Interact with mechanical engineering design team to rapidly iterate and improve designs as informed by analysis
• Interact with project management and company leadership todeterminetimelines, schedule tasks, and ensure deadlines are met
• Contribute tostandardization of practices and procedures within themechanicalanalysis team
• Writetechnical reports detailing analysis processes, results, and recommendations
• Allocate team resourcesand delegate analysis tasks to team members, supportingmultipleprojects andanalysis efforts
• Oversee work performed to ensure high-quality workproducts
• Understand analysis requirements and ensure analysis is performed in compliance with applicable Lunar Outpost and NASA standards
• Generate applicable loading profilestobe communicated to vendors and stakeholders
• Prepare and presentmaterials for Test Readiness Reviews (TRR), Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR),Failure Review Boards (FRB),and Critical Design Reviews (CDR)
• Collaboratewith NASA Insight membersinrecurring workinggroup sessions

Required Qualifications:

• BachelorsDegreein Mechanical Engineeringor related discipline
• 10+ years ofapplicable experienceperforming mechanical analysis on spaceflightsystems
