Job summary

Langan is seeking a Senior Staff Landscape Architect to join our Philadelphia, PA team. You will contribute to waterfront design, urban revitalization, streetscape projects, and campus settings with a focus on sustainable, context-driven landscape architecture.

You will lead conceptual design, documentation, and field coordination across multi-disciplinary teams, utilizing AutoCAD, Civil 3D, SketchUp, and related software. Travel to project sites may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture is required.
  • 3+ years of landscape architecture experience.
  • Licensure in process or current licensure is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare planning, design, and permitting documents for landscape architecture and related projects using software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, SketchUp, Photoshop, Illustrator, Lumion.
  • Perform zoning, ordinance, and permit assessments and analyze data to determine feasibility.
  • Prepare and modify design documents including plans, renderings, specifications, schedules and reports; coordinate with teams and clients.
  • Assess soil, terrain, hydrology, and geology and their impact on planning and design using reports, maps, and photographs.
  • Provide field observation and construction admin support, responding to RFIs and submittals, and site visits as needed.
  • Familiarity with local, state, and federal land use permitting processes; willingness to travel to various offices.

Job Summary

Langan is seeking a Senior Staff Landscape Architect to join its collaborative team in Philadelphia, PA. This individual will serve a key function in providing support to integrated design services for both public and private sector clients at sites focused regionally, with opportunities throughout the United States and abroad. In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to a diverse portfolio of waterfront design, urban revitalization and streetscape, smart growth planning, community design, retail and commercial site planning, healthcare and university campus design, rooftop gardens, green infrastructure, and brownfield redevelopment assignments.

Job Responsibilities
  • Prepare the planning, design, and permitting of landscape architecture, civil engineering, land development, and infrastructure projects using design, engineering, and graphic software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Sketch Up, Photoshop, Illustrator, Lumion, and equipment to prepare landscape architecture and design documents;
  • Perform zoning, ordinance, and permit assessments, and assist with determining the feasibility of projects based on the analysis of collected data;
  • Assist with the preparation, review, and modification of various design and landscape architecture related documents including conceptual and technical design plans, plan view and perspective renderings, specifications, construction schedules, cost estimates, and reports for projects;
  • Assess soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and topographical and geologic data and their impact on the planning and design of projects using reports, maps, drawings, design and engineering plans, tests, and aerial photographs;
  • Provide field observation and construction administration services such as reviewing and responding to contractor requests-for-information, submittals and shop drawings, plant selection and tagging at nurseries, and preparing punch list reports;
  • Familiarity with current local, state, and federal land use permitting processes; and
  • Perform other duties as requested.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture;
  • 3+ years of experience;
  • In process of securing or currently maintain professional licensure;
  • High level of creativity and exceptional computer skills in Lumion, Sketchup, AutoCAD, Photoshop, and Illustrator;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Office;
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills;
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, multitasking, and judgment capabilities;
  • Self-starter with problem solving abilities;
  • Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team environment and to follow direction and collaborate with team members on project tasks and assignments;
  • Willingness to work in the field as necessary;
  • Ability to occasionally travel to and work in other office locations; and
  • Possess reliable transportation for job site visits and a valid driver’s license in good standing.
