Langan Engineering & Environmental Services is seeking a Senior Staff Landscape Architect to join its collaborative team in Philadelphia, PA. This role supports integrated design services for public and private sector clients across regional sites with opportunities nationwide and abroad.

The position involves waterfront design, urban revitalization, streetscape, green infrastructure, and brownfield redevelopment, utilizing AutoCAD, SketchUp, Lumion, Photoshop, and Illustrator.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture.
• 3+ years of experience.
• In process of securing or currently maintain professional licensure.
• High level of creativity and strong computer skills in design software.

Responsibilities

• Prepare planning, design, and permitting of landscape architecture and related projects using design software.
• Perform zoning, ordinance, and permit assessments and feasibility studies.
• Prepare and modify landscape architecture documents including plans, renderings, specifications, schedules, and reports.
• Assess soil, terrain, hydrology, and geologic data affecting planning and design.
• Provide field observation and construction administration support, including RFIs and submittals.
• Travel to other office locations as needed and work in the field when required.

Job Summary

Langan is seeking a Senior Staff Landscape Architect to join its collaborative team in Philadelphia, PA. This individual will serve a key function in providing support to integrated design services for both public and private sector clients at sites focused regionally, with opportunities throughout the United States and abroad. In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to a diverse portfolio of waterfront design, urban revitalization and streetscape, smart growth planning, community design, retail and commercial site planning, healthcare and university campus design, rooftop gardens, green infrastructure, and brownfield redevelopment assignments.

Job Responsibilities

• Prepare the planning, design, and permitting of landscape architecture, civil engineering, land development, and infrastructure projects using design, engineering, and graphic software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Sketch Up, Photoshop, Illustrator, Lumion, and equipment to prepare landscape architecture and design documents;
• Perform zoning, ordinance, and permit assessments, and assist with determining the feasibility of projects based on the analysis of collected data;
• Assist with the preparation, review, and modification of various design and landscape architecture related documents including conceptual and technical design plans, plan view and perspective renderings, specifications, construction schedules, cost estimates, and reports for projects;
• Assess soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and topographical and geologic data and their impact on the planning and design of projects using reports, maps, drawings, design and engineering plans, tests, and aerial photographs;
• Provide field observation and construction administration services such as reviewing and responding to contractor requests-for-information, submittals and shop drawings, plant selection and tagging at nurseries, and preparing punch list reports;
• Familiarity with current local, state, and federal land use permitting processes; and
• Perform other duties as requested.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture;
• 3+ years of experience;
• In process of securing or currently maintain professional licensure;
• High level of creativity and exceptional computer skills in Lumion, Sketchup, AutoCAD, Photoshop, and Illustrator;
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Office;
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills;
• Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, multitasking, and judgment capabilities;
• Self-starter with problem solving abilities;
• Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team environment and to follow direction and collaborate with team members on project tasks and assignments;
• Willingness to work in the field as necessary;
• Ability to occasionally travel to and work in other office locations; and
• Possess reliable transportation for job site visits and a valid driver’s license in good standing.
