Job summary

Dexcom Inc. in San Diego is seeking a senior electrical characterization engineer to lead test strategies for wearable CGM devices, guiding data‑driven decisions from concept through commercialization.

You will work with hardware, firmware, systems, quality, reliability, and manufacturing teams; you will mentor engineers, analyze large data sets, and drive reliability and testability improvements in high‑volume devices.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline and 13+ years of related experience, or a Master’s with 8+ years, or a PhD with 5+ years.

Responsibilities

• You will provide technical leadership across multiple product development programs, influencing engineering decisions and helping ensure robust product performance throughout the product lifecycle.
• You will define and execute characterization strategies, design verification activities, and test methodologies that establish product performance, reliability, and design margins across complex wearable medical device systems.
• You will lead complex root cause investigations and failure analysis across development, manufacturing, reliability testing, and post-market performance.
• You will collaborate with hardware, firmware, systems, quality, reliability, manufacturing, and regulatory teams to drive effective technical solutions.
• You will analyze large data sets and provide data-driven recommendations that influence product design and business decisions.
• You will support sustaining engineering activities for commercial products, including issue investigation and corrective actions.
• You will participate in architecture reviews, design reviews, and risk assessments to improve reliability and testability.
• You will mentor junior engineers and promote engineering excellence across the organization.
