Job summary

Apple Inc. is seeking a Sr. Staff / Distinguished Engineer to lead the web-scale data acquisition platform powering Siri, Spotlight, Apple Maps, and foundation models. You’ll shape ML-driven decisions for what to crawl, how to value data, and how to scale storage and compute at exabyte scale.

You’ll work across engineering, AI research, and product teams to align data strategy with Apple's broader AI direction and drive architectural choices that enable rapid innovation at scale.

Qualifications

• 12+ years building distributed systems at petabyte/exabyte scale.
• Experience applying ML to data quality, ranking, relevance, or prioritization in production.
• Track record setting technical direction across multiple teams as a senior lead.
• Experience partnering with ML/AI research teams to translate model needs into infrastructure.
• BS in CS; MS/PhD preferred.

Responsibilities

• Own technical strategy and execution for Apple’s web-scale data acquisition platform.
• Oversee crawl, store, and deliver exabytes of web content to power Siri, Spotlight, Apple Maps, and foundation models.
• Set direction on storage and compute architecture enabling fast delivery while applying ML to decide what to crawl and how to score it.
• Collaborate with crawl infrastructure, search indexing, and AI teams to align architecture with Apple’s broader AI direction.
