Senior Staff Engineer, Embedded Firmware

Develop cutting-edge firmware for embedded memory technologies, including CXL and SoC-based future memory solutions. Design and deliver high-performance, reliable, and resource-optimized firmware that unlocks the full potential ofthese innovative memory technologies. Implement SystemC models for hardware IPs on the Synopsys VDK virtual platform. Develop firmware on a virtual platform.

Location: Daily onsite presence at our San Jose, CA office / U.S. headquarters in alignment with our Flexible Work policy.

What You’ll Do

  • Analyze product requirements to derive software requirements and write a Software Requirement Specification (SRS) document.
  • Provide feedback on hardware operation to ensure that software requirements are met.
  • Design the overall software architecture based on the derived software requirements and document it in a High-Level Design (HLD) document. Place software layers and modules, describe their roles, and establish algorithms and behavior policies for each layer and module. Write a Detailed Level Design (DLD) document that outlines the design details of each layer and module.
  • Implement software based on software design and perform unit testing to verify its correctness.
  • Test software based on the requirement analysis and design.
  • Analyze defects found during integration testing, system testing, or customer evaluation phases; improve them by refactoring codes
  • Profile performance bottlenecks using profiling tools like Intel VTune Amplifier; optimize performance-critical parts.
  • Reviews documents or source code written by others to improve their quality and share information.

What You Bring

  • Bachelors with 15+ years of relevant industry experience, or Masters with 13+ years or PhD 10+ years in embedded firmware development or related field preferred.
  • Proficiency in C++14 is mandatory, and knowledge of C++17 is also required.
  • Experience with SystemC modeling of hardware IPs for Synopsys VDK is preferred.
  • Ability to write C/C++ code for ARM CPU without an operating system.
  • Familiarity with Trace32 hardware debugger and scripts to identify and resolve code issues.
  • Proficiency in Git at Linux, Gitlab, GitHub, Bitbucket.
  • Knowledge of unit test implementation using Google Test and Google Mock.
  • Understanding of software development processes and deliverables.
  • Familiarity with Linux OS (Ubuntu) and kernel code.
  • Experience with collaboration tools such as Confluence and Jira to work with team members and manage projects.
  • Strong analytical skills to identify complex problems and develop efficient solutions.

$180,950 - $289,050 USD
