Atomic Machines seeks an experienced Electrical Engineer in Emeryville, CA to design and integrate control electronics for our Matter Compiler manufacturing nodes. You will own electrical architecture, develop custom boards, bring up processors in C/C++, and work closely with embedded software and mechanical teams.
You will interface with vendors, build reusable libraries, and contribute to modular, scalable hardware for rapid prototyping and production-ready systems.
Atomic Machines is ushering in a new era of micromanufacturing with its Matter Compiler™ technology. This full-stack technology enables new classes of micromachines to be designed and built by offering manufacturing processes and a materials library that is inaccessible to semiconductor manufacturing methods. It promises to unlock MEMS manufacturing for the many device classes frustrated by semiconductor methods and to open up entirely new product classes. The Matter Compiler™ technology fully realizes the digital manufacturing dream: bits and raw materials go in, and complete, functional micromachines come out. We are looking for a well-rounded, experienced electrical engineer who enjoys working in an agile environment. We expect our engineers to be self-motivated, willing and capable of making decisions based on incomplete information, and to have a get-it-done attitude.
The main line of work will be to build and integrate machine control systems for our custom manufacturing nodes. Our system is built around a multiprocessor architecture with distinct processors handling networking, general machine control, and specialty controls like vision and motion. Interconnect selection, prototype cabling, and bring-up firmware are also important aspects of the job. We emphasize modularity for reuse to speed up subsequent builds of nodes with similar needs.
