Job summary

Shield AI seeks a Senior Staff (L5) Environmental Control System (ECS) Engineer to own ECS architecture, analysis and integration for a high-velocity program. You will trade studies, size systems, design hardware, manage suppliers, support proposals, and deliver flight-ready hardware in a rapid-iteration environment.

The ideal candidate has 7–12 years in aerospace ECS, holds a Mechanical/Aerospace degree, and can work autonomously with security clearance eligibility.

Qualifications

• 7–12 years of aerospace ECS and thermal/fluid system development.
• B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• Strong 1D modeling and system sizing from inlets to cooling circuits.
• CAD/PLM workflows with 3D CAD (NX/CATIA/Creo) experience.
• Vendor sourcing experience and ability to drive suppliers to schedule.
• Security clearance eligible.

Responsibilities

• Lead ECS architecture definition and trade studies to meet constraints.
• Design and analyze vehicle air inlets, ducts, and ram-air cooling.
• Size systems with first-principles thermodynamics and modeling.
• Prepare SOWs and evaluate hardware suppliers; manage external vendors.
• Define test plans, rigs, and instrumentation for qualification.
• Process flight-test data and implement rapid design changes.
